November: Reflection

November 7

“The soulful move is the move toward contemplating the source of things deeply rooted in eternity, the things that always are… When we touch that mystery, we’re nourished in a profound way. If we’re not touching the eternals – if we’re not in touch with mythic stories, with ancient sites, with old family scrapbooks and heirlooms and deeply probing relationships - then we’re lost. If all we’re trying to do is keep up with change, I think we lose the momentum of our soul’s journey. But once you touch an old story, a true mentor, or the mysterious powers of nature, somehow your soul is nourished and, by a movement that still mystifies me, you find the courage to go on.”

~ Phil Cousineau, The Handbook for the Soul
